History of Alside

Alside was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Its founder, Jerome Kaufman, invented the first residential baked-enamel aluminum siding after seeing how paint bonded to aluminum fuselages on World War II planes. In 1960, it became a public company and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1961.

Approximately 3,000 people are employed by Alside in its seven manufacturing facilities in Ohio, Texas, Iowa, West Virginia, and Arizona. Alside Supply Centers are located across the United States and Canada to allow installation contractors quick access to its products.

Alside is now owned by Associated Materials Incorporated, the parent company of several well-known home building product companies including Gentek siding, Revere siding, Alpine Windows, and Preservation windows and siding.

Warranty Information

Alside will repair, refinish or replace any product found to be defective and assume all of the costs of materials and labor. It guarantees that its vinyl products will not blister, corrode, flake, or peel as a "direct result of defects occurring in the manufacturing process under normal use and service" according to its warranty.

Alside steel siding warranties offer additional protection against rust. Its guarantee also includes a 15-year limited warranty against chalking and color change, as well as a 50-year warranty against damage by hail.
