History of Georgia Pacific

As a wholesaler of hardwood floors, Georgia Pacific was founded in 1927 by Owen Cheathman. Today the company has expanded into other areas including paper, packaging, pulp, tissue, building products and other related chemicals. From 1949 to 2005 GP as it is commonly called was listed on the New York Stock Exchange but then the company was acquired by Koch Industries Inc. Koch is based in Wichita, Kansas and is privately owned.
