Wolverine is a brand of siding owned by CertainTeed Corporation. Wolverine siding is notable for its realistic appearance and high strength.

About CertainTeed

Wolverine Siding Systems was an independent company that was acquired by CertainTeed in 1988.

CertainTeed makes building products, particularly for home exteriors. It employs about 7,000 people in 70 North American locations. The company was founded in Illinois in 1904 as the General Roofing Manufacturing Company.

Also, in 1988, CertainTeed was bought by Saint-Gobain, a large manufacturing company. The company was founded in Paris in 1665 as a producer of mirrors. Its annual revenue exceeds $37 billion.

CertainTeed Siding Products

CertainTeed produces many different types of siding, of which Wolverine is one. Wolverine is a traditional horizontal siding; CertainTeed also makes vertical and shingled siding out of vinyl (and other polymers). These include circular and rectangular shingles.

The company also produces soffit, which is specifically designed for the underside of surfaces (or the roof of porches). CertainTeed makes decorative trim to go along with their other products.

CertainTeed also makes some types of horizontal siding that differ from Wolverine's. These other varieties (including Carolina Beaded, Classic, and MainStreet) are designed to recreate the appearance that wood has in the context of particular architectural styles.

Homeowners installing Wolverine (or any) vinyl siding may also want various accessories to attach the siding and cover joints and cut edges. CertainTeed produces corners, joints, grooves, and other molds designed for the purpose of holding siding in place and making the whole thing look presentable.

Anyone installing the siding should make sure to keep the containers flat, dry, and away from high heat. It is also important to make sure that the wall underneath the siding is smooth and watertight.
