HardiePlank Review: "Review of my apartments cement siding"

Location: Tampa, FL

Cement Siding Satisfaction Rating:
4 of 5 stars Somewhat Satisfied

We live in a 2,200 sq ft manufactured home which is 12 years old and located about 200 feet from the Gulf of Mexico -- right in hurricane country. The vinyl siding which came on our home is looking very sad -- dull and faded (suspect it wasn't top-notch when installed!) and we have been thinking about another siding material and are drawn to the looks of cedar shake/Cape Cod style -- but we feel that a fiber/cement product would be ideal for our location & climate. The best part about the cement siding is that it does not appeal to termites! I can not tell you how many times we have had to deal with termite problems at our last house, an older Victorian era home in Connecticut. We have never had to replace the current siding, but we are looking to in the near future. I hope this review helps

HardiePlank Review: "Never had a better siding."

Location: North Bend, Oregon

Cement Siding Satisfaction Rating:
5 of 5 stars Very Satisfied

When we were building a workshop we were on the search for a good durable siding. We chose HardiePlank Lap siding and have been extremely happy with it since. We purchased this siding about 4 years ago. It is very attractive and super easy to keep clean. Due to the type of work that goes on inside and outside the workshop, we were concerned about it's strength and stability. But the concern was unwarranted. The siding is very easy to paint and holds it's color very well. The siding we purchased came primed and ready to paint, making the whole job remarkably convenient. We've never had to repair or replace any of the siding. It's quite tough. The HardiePlank was so impressive that two years ago we used it to replace the siding on our home, garage and shed. It's beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone. We live in the rainy Pacific Northwest and it's been a wonderful barrier to the harsh outdoors.

HardiePlank Review: "Why I like HardiPlank"

Location: Meridian, TX

Cement Siding Satisfaction Rating:
5 of 5 stars Very Satisfied

About eighteen years ago we purchased an old house with horrible asbestos siding. While living here we were challenged with chipping siding, termites and wood ants. About seven years ago we decided to replace the siding. We decided to go with a cement based siding called HardiPlank. What I love about HardiPlank is that it is suppose to last fifty or more years. Although it is not fire proof, it is fire resistant. Another great thing is that it is insect resistant. No more termites or wood ants. HardiPlank looks like wood. It can easily be painted . It also can be used without painting. It comes in a wonderful neutral color. One disadvantage to purchasing HardiPlank is the cost. It is three times the cost of vinyl siding. However, since it is strong and durable. you earn your money back over the years with having no repairs. I would buy HardiPlank again if needed and would definately recommend it to a friend.

HardiePlank Review: "One of the best investments on my home..."

Location: Atlanta, GA

Cement Siding Satisfaction Rating:
5 of 5 stars Very Satisfied

After we had a series of problems with the older vinyl siding on our house, we knew it was time for an update. After looking at a number of options, including some of the newer vinyl products on the market, we began to consider cement siding--eventually choosing it for our home. We could not have made a better decision. The James Hardie cement siding we opted for has been nothing less than a blessing for us. It's beautiful, easy to maintain, and has given us a peace of mind that we cannot attach a price tag to. In three years with cement siding, we never had any problems. And, when we sold our house this past year, the buyers loved it. Definitely one of the better moves we have made as homeowners.

HardiePlank Review: "Rental home landlord of 20 years."

Location: Huntsville, TX

Cement Siding Satisfaction Rating:
4 of 5 stars Somewhat Satisfied

I've been using this siding for seven to eight years to replace rotting traditional wood siding on my rental homes. What I like about it is that it doesn't rot, and generally seems impervious to the elements. Further, beyond the weather, I also don't have to worry about termites either. I dislike that it is difficult to maneuver by oneself. It essentially requires a second person as the only way to move the cement siding without it breaking is to hold the siding vertically. Also, if I were to nitpick, the faux wood look, with its faux imperfections is not particularly easy to paint. I don't think I'm honestly fooling anyone with it right next to real wood siding so why not make it easier to paint with a roller? It's the faux planar marks that are particularly troublesome. So far I have not needed to replace any of the pieces I've put up. In fact, in many cases, I have added to what I had originally installed. In the end, I would recommend Hardie Board without hesitation.

HardiePlank Review: "Great siding that doesn't rot or chip and will last a lifetime with little maintenance"

Location: Dallas, TX

Cement Siding Satisfaction Rating:
5 of 5 stars Very Satisfied

My house has had this siding on it for three and a half years now. I have not had any problems at all with this siding. I like that it is stronger than wood siding and is able to withstand harsh weather better. It doesn't dent or puncture in hailstorms. It doesn't crack and swell if it gets moisture behind it like masonite siding will. It comes pre-primed and ready to install and paint. It accepts latex paint well and helps the paint to last longer. I have had other houses with plywood siding and even though I've kept them well maintained with good caulk and latex paint the siding had still started to show signs of failure within the first several years. Even worse is Masonite siding that will start to swell and deteriorate around the nail holes and along the edges and bottom if even the slightest amount of moisture penetrates the surface. This happens regularly when installed improperly by people who drive the nails past the surface of the siding. With the Hardiplank cement board you don't have to worry about that. It is a little heavier than wood siding but it is still manageable and it cuts and nails just like wood siding. I would suggest to use cement board trim as well unless you want to have perfect looking siding and rotting trim boards after a few years.

HardiePlank Review: "My Fiber Cement Siding Experience"

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Cement Siding Satisfaction Rating:
5 of 5 stars Very Satisfied

I had James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding installed about a year ago. I made the purchase through a local home improvement store and had it installed by a local contractor. I chose a dark blue that wasn't available in vinyl siding. The color itself comes with a gaurantee that it will not chip or fade. I love that it had uv protection and will be protected against fading as well as all the other elements, wind, rain, etc. The look of the siding gave my hundred thousand dollar home the appearance of the three hundred thousand dollar homes down the street. I would definitely recommend James Hardie to my friends, it only took a couple weeks for the dealer to get it in. They had several color samples for me to choose from and the James Hardie brand seems to offer more intense and custom colors than the others I was looking at when first starting this project. So far there have been no repairs or replacements needed and I don't forsee any in the near future!
